Local Rules for VDM members.

  • The walls surrounding the ponds are immovable obstructions unless the ball is on top of or touching them then the ball is in the hazard.
  • The fences behind the 1st and 3rd green are immovable obstructions if the ball is on the green side of the obstructions. If the ball is beyond the obstructions then the boundary wall takes precedent.
  • The path leading up to the 7th from the forth is a path and not part of the hazard.
  • An area of 1 meter to the right of the path leading down from the seventh green from the first incidence of grass is deemed to be part of the path.

The Vale de Milho handicap system (revised Oct. 2010):

NEW MEMBERS WITH A FULL COURSE HANDICAP will be given a Vale de Milho handicap of 50% (half) of their EXACT full course handicap. i.e. if you have a 18.8 full course handicap, your VDM one will be 9.4, and rounded down to 9.

NEW MEMBERS WITHOUT A CURRENT FULL HANDICAP will submit THREE CARDS for games played at Vale de Milho, signed by a member, and you will be given a handicap based on these scores.

HANDICAP SYSTEM (Note: maximum handicap for men is: 14 and ladies: 24)

All cards are converted to stableford points. Each handicap range has a "buffer zone", so your handicap will not change if your points are within that range. Outside your buffer zone, your handicap will be adjusted as follows:

For those of you who are interested to easily track and calculate your own handicaps on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, you can buy a commercial version in the Euroforia Shop.
(Note: Microsoft chooses to frustrate its customers by making versions of Excel that are not compatible - As a minimum: Be sure to check if your version of Microsoft Excel does support macros and is the latest version.)
